3190 W. State Route 89A, Suite #400 ? Sedona, AZ 86336 ? (928) 282-2284 ? (866) 282-9291 To Whom It May Concern: Sunny Heartley is a pleasure to work with, on all levels. As a bookstore owner and promoter of live local music, I appreciate that Sunny is the consummate professional, always on time and ready to give 100%. He helps us promote his performances and always draws a good audience. As a music fan, I thoroughly enjoy Sunnys performances, which are both thoughtful and spontaneous. He entertains and educates, always giving the audience what we want before we know we want it. As a fellow musician, I have great respect for Sunnys musicianship. He is original and creative, but always with his own respect for those that have come before him. Feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions. Sincerely, Joe Neri

Way Back in the Sixties and early Seventies There was a band called ADOM from New Jersey in the picture above:(Top Left)Rich Riggs, Guitars (Top Right) Sunny (Banton)Heartley, Drums, Bottom Row Left to right Steven Blackstone, Rhythm Guitar and Vocals,Ray Laurella, Bass and Vocals, James Laurella, Keyboards and Vocals.

The article above was run in the local paper,The Verde valley Independant, in the Kudos Entertainment Sectionthe first week of Nov. 2009 and it generated some pretty awesome ticket sales. Sedona Live seats 75 and we sold 45 tickets advance and another 18 at the door. I sold 55 CD's and another 15 DVD's at the show plus took home 50% of the gate proceeds. So I had a great night. Below is the poster I created for the concert.

The Sunny Heartley Story
Over a Decade ago, after a long period of soul searching, the "Creator of All That Is" gave Sunny a vision of the Life he was intended to live. This "Vision" was of
himself as a solo musician. The question arose...
"What would be his voice in this music?" A blinding
thought passed through his mind, he remembered the silver flute tucked away in his closet."That's It!"...and the rest has been a life lived in Blessings of His Gift. You see Sunny had been taught as a child to play the clarinet by his father, who was a clarinetist himself, though not much of a teacher, Sunny retained some of what he had been taught.
After High School academics and being pushed to be an engineer, Sunny decided to go into the Navy and then be able to pursue his own manifest destiny. During his time on board ship in the Navy, a group of fellows formed a makeshift band and his first opportunity to play an instrument came up,they needed a drummer. Sunny said,"can't be that difficult", and became their drummer. Just like that he took to the drum set like " a duck takes to water!"
After the service Sunny moved to Philadelphia and was thrust into the midst of the "Hippie Movement" and the "Soul" of the music rich environment that "Philly" had to offer. It wasnot long he found himself auditioning for bands in the Plilly, and what do you know he landed a gig that lasted almost 5 years.
After that 5 years of travel, Sunny was a bit burned out on the music and the club scene. So he stopped the rigors of the road and settled down in Vermont for a while, did some skiing and learned the art of Culinary. He proceeded to get a job as a Chef, and got one in a very nice restaurant in Killington,VT.
Cold weather was getting to Sunny, so he migrated south to Boston, worked in the Culinary Arts in "BeanTown", with much success, but still something
was calling him West. So one rainy day in Boston, he decided to pack up and head to the "Rockies", and settled in Steamboat Springs, CO.,where he worked" Cheffing"and skied as much as he possibly could.
2 years of this and it was again time to go, but where?
Now isn't it funny how things just work out.
After making his decision to leave the "Rockies" he met some one who needed help moving to Flagstaff,AZ. He got his stuff and himself to AZ. in fine style only to find the job market for a Chef was sorely lacking. So he called his sister in DC. and asked to ship him out his drum set. She did and while the the drums were in transit Sunny discovered Sedona,AZ. Almost immediately he was drawn to this place, so he continued his journey down to "Red Rock Country". At the time of his arrival there was not much in the way of tourism, but it surely was on its way in a few years.
Upon arriving in Sedona to live and work, Sunny found a place to live on the banks of Oak Creek, which he has not strayed far from ever since, and notified the moving company where he was so that they could drop off his drumset. The day after they arrived he heard about a local band auditioning for a drummer. He had a week to prepare! Sunny got down to it and practiced 8 hours a day.So Saturday came and Sunny shows up at the local tavern and to his surprise there 9 other drummers attending! Well, being pretty much a self taught musician, he almost threw in the towel, and then decided"Oh What The Heck!" He wound up playing last and the band leader said he'd be in touch.."how cool!"
Two weeks pass and one night after work, at the restaurant across the street from that same tavern,Sunny rolled in to have a beer and chat with a friend he worked with. He had not even given the audition another thought, when he felt a tap on his shoulder, turned around and it was the leader of the band.
Sunny passed the audition and as it turns out the band was "Huge" in the state of AZ.! He was back in music, this time to stay.
After years of clubs all over AZ., again it was time for a change. Sunny's
spiritual life had changed just by being in Sedona and the "Scene" in the clubs was getting old quick."What do I do now?" he asked...
Well don't know one night just south of Sedona, and still on the banks of Oak Creek,Sunny was playing around in his the very modest studio, when he
came across something that would change his life Forever! He got this message to pull out his old flute , set up a microphone, put on the headphones, and record the flute with this little Em sequence he'd written. The next morning he played it back and some of it was good and some of it
was pretty darn good.
Ok now it was time to record his first project, that was 9 years ago and only on cassette.Five years ago the Native Flute Technology came into his life, which really had an inpact on Sunny's solo career. For now his was building and playing his own hand-made Native American Flutes.
Now 13 recording projects recorded and released and hundreds of Flutes Hand-Crafted Suuny has finally found his niche in life. His life continues to be blessed as he is introduced to many new fans, who have found this creative artist living in their midst, in the Verde Valley of Arizona, and have shown their love and support.Sunny will be filming Two DVD's this June 2005 in Denver, CO. in conjunction with attending and performing at the International New Age Trade Show, June 24th thru June26th, 2005. Also Sunny's newly Released CD, Sound Vibrational Healing, vol. 1, has been nominated for a number of Visionary Awards, this is HUGE, for these awards are on the parallel with a Grammy Award. Keep your prayers with Sunny as this would be a real career booster! And guess what he won for Best New Healing CD for 2005.
To bring you up to date. He is playing a regular gig at Jerona Cafe, as well as doing alot of music for his church, The Garden Community Church. Many musical projects are in the works for 2007 and beyond, and the future looks bright for this gifted composer, craftsman, and performer. His CD's are selling well , his flutes are being very well received, and are also selling well, and the creative process never seems to quit in this very special musician
Sunny has re-invented himself this past year, as he had an achilles tendon operation this past Feb. 2006. This gives proof that the Lord works in mysterious ways! Though the operation was very debilatating, it gave Sunny the time to reflect on what had worked in his life and what had not served. His time was well spent in recording what is said to be his best work to date. A New CD has been added to his catalog, which are titled, "The 72 Names of GOD". This time healing himself from the injury has also been a "God Send" as it has given him the perspective from a spiritual standpoint that is now a mainstay in his life. You just never know how the mysteries of this life will unfold, but, if you Listen you may find the answer you need.
So here we are at 2010. Sunny has received stunningly huge accolades for his new CD "My Heart" and for his work on his DVD, "Out of This World", and is currently booking concerts all over Arizona, and is searching for more. Sunny is currently working with the Developmenyally Disabled at YES the ARC in Cottonwood AZ. and his music program there is over the top with acknowledgement from the community at large starting with the Mayor Diane Joens and going from there.
As the New Year2010 unfolds many exciting Musical Events are planned for Sunny Heartley and his Ensemble of Flutes and the Magic will continue. Sunny wishes all of you who have supported his music over this past years, the blessings of abundance and great health, and is looking forward to meeting many new friends in this Exciting Year unfolding before us.
